The lore of the alchemists’ quest for immortality and the means to convert lead into gold can be traced back nearly two millennia. In their process of experimentation, the alchemists established the foundation for modern sciences such as chemistry, physics, metallurgy and medicine. This Niue 2022 Alchemist coin contains 2 Troy oz. The coin’s high relief imagery is minted with a dramatic antiqued patina. The 50 mm diameter coin features selective fluorescent printing and a three-dimensional fluorescent insert. Mintage is limited to merely 500 pieces. Spectacular Tribute to the Alchemist. Obverse: The likeness of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II that is centered upon the obverse was created by acclaimed British sculptor Ian Rank-Broadley in 1998. Reverse: The reverse features an Alchemist portrayed as a mad scientist wearing steampunk inspired garb, while holding aloft a bright green bottle-shaped insert. Shelving bearing vials, jars and ancient tomes covers the entirety of the background. A wood plank suspended by a chain above carries the inscription “ALCHEMIST, ” the letters of which are enhanced with fluorescent printing.
