While they are still used for some traditional card games around the world, tarot cards are largely known in the United States for divination. This intriguing coin was issued by Niue in 2022 as part of their Tarot Cards series. This specimen was struck by the New Zealand Mint and features the Hierophant design. This rectangular coin is made of. 999 fine silver and weighs 1 Troy oz. Mintage was limited to a maximum of 2,000 pieces. This specimen has a colorized proof finish. This legal tender coin comes with its Original Government Packaging which includes a Certificate of Authenticity. Rectangular Coin with Hierophant Design. Obverse: The rectangular shape of this coin fits perfectly with the theme of the design. Since this coin was issued by Niue, the obverse displays a detailed portrait of Queen Elizabeth II. This version has been widely used and is the work of Ian Rank-Broadley. The inscriptions on this side include the face value and date. The background is filled with a pattern that one may find on the back of a tarot card. Reverse: The Hierophant design is on this side. The central portion, which looks like the graphic portion of a tarot card, has been colorized. A “V” can be seen at the top of the design, the Hierophant is the traditional fifth card of the Tarot. The figure in the design has his eyes closed with a third eye painted on his forehead, hinting to the nature of the card. GEM Proof in OGP.
