Martian Meteorite A Martian meteorite is a rock that formed on the planet Mars and was then ejected from Mars by the impact of an asteroid or comet, and finally landed on the Earth. Of over 61,000 meteorites that have been found on Earth, 132 were identified as Martian as of 3 March 2014. These meteorites are thought to be from Mars because they have elemental and isotopic compositions that are similar to rocks and atmosphere gases analyzed by spacecraft on Mars. On October 17, 2013, NASA reported, based on analysis of argon in the Martian atmosphere by the Mars Curiosity rover, that certain meteorites found on Earth thought to be from Mars were indeed from Mars. On January 3, 2013, NASA reported that a meteorite, named NWA 7034 (nicknamed Black Beauty), found in 2011 in the Sahara desert, was determined to be from Mars and found to contain ten times the water of other Mars meteorites found on Earth. The meteorite was determined to have formed 2.1 billion years ago during the Amazonian geologic period on Mars. 31.1 (1 oz). This amazing 1 Oz Silver coin is the fourth issue of the Meteorite Crater series and depicts the Gosses Bluff crater, an authentic geological beauty. The coin features an authentic fragment of Henbury meteorite insert. The coin has an Antique Finish quality and comes in a brown themed case, along with the Certificate of Authenticity. Limited mintage to only 666 pieces in the world. The reverse of the coin depicts the incredible Gosses Bluff crater, with its beautiful meteorite insert, makes it seem that the impact just happened in this miniature version. On the top of the coin, the inscriptions: METEORITE CRATER the name of the series and GOSSES BLUFF the name of the coin. The obverse of the coin depicts the effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. On top of the rim, the inscriptions: NIUE ISLAND the issue country and 2017 the year of issue. All around the effigy, the inscriptions: ELIZABETH II the name of the Queen, ONE DOLLAR the face value and Ag 999 the fineness of the Silver. Gosses Bluff Gosses Bluff is thought to be the eroded remnant of an impact crater. Known as Tnorala, it is located in the southern Northern Territory, near the centre of Australia, about 175 km west of Alice Springs and about 212 km to the northeast of Uluru (Ayers Rock). It was named by Ernest Giles in 1872 after Australian explorer William Gosse’s brother Henry, who was a member of William’s expedition. The original crater is thought to have been formed by the impact of an asteroid or comet approximately 142.5 million years ago, in the earliest Cretaceous, very close to the Jurassic – Cretaceous boundary. The original crater rim has been estimated at about 22 km in diameter, but this has been eroded away. The 5 km diameter, 180 m high crater-like feature, now exposed, is interpreted as the eroded relic of the crater’s central uplift. The impact origin of this topographic feature was first proposed in the 1960s, the strongest evidence coming from the abundance of shatter cones. In the past the crater has been the target of petroleum exploration, and two abandoned exploration wells lie near its centre. The item “GOSSES BLUFF Meteorite Crater 1 Oz Silver Coin 1$ Niue Island 2017″ is in sale since Tuesday, February 21, 2017. This item is in the category “Coins & Paper Money\Coins\ World\Australia & Oceania\South Pacific”. The seller is “powercoin_italy” and is located in Roma. This item can be shipped worldwide.

TopWorldCoins Deutschland GmbH Rheinstr. 37-39, 63225 Langen Deutschland / Germany. This is quite a unique coin, for it’s fully made of a meteorite! With a colored image of a falling Muonionalusta meteorite on the reverse, the coin itself is actually a piece of it. The 42 mm coin contains 31,1-33,6 g of original meteorite in proof quality, each one with individual structure. The world will see only 693 Muonionalusta meteorite coins in total, each housed in a specially designed presentation case. The obverse bears the effigy of Her Majesty Elizabeth II surrounded by the following inscriptions: the Queen’s name, the face value of the coin, its issuing country and year. The reverse features a colored image of a falling Muonionalusta meteorite and showcases the intricate Muonionalusta etch pattern in the background. This piece of crystalline metal is a tiny slice of a meteorite that fell from the sky about one million years ago, breaking into hundreds of smaller fragments that rained down in a shower of fire upon the territory of present-day northern Sweden and Finland. Four ice ages transported the surviving meteorite pieces across the Swedish tundra, until their first discovery in 1906. The Muonionalusta is probably the oldest meteorite known to man. What you’re getting. The item “Niue 2016 1$ Muonionalusta Meteorite 1 oz Proof Pure Meteorite Coin” is in sale since Friday, April 14, 2017. This item is in the category “Coins & Paper Money\Coins\ World\Australia & Oceania\South Pacific”. The seller is “topworldcoins_com” and is located in Chicago, Illinois.
