The coin bears the title Fortuna Redux Mercury and has got a very limited mintage amount of 2 500 pieces only. Represented on the obverse of the coin, there is the portrait of Her Majesty Elizabeth II. The image of Mercury and the inscriptions indicating the face value of the coin as well as its weight can be seen next to it. To the left of the image, there are the legends denoting the name of the issuing country, the issuing year and the standard of coinage. The reverse design features the gilded effigy of Mercury, the god of trade and profit, merchants and travelers against the background of a map of the galaxy. Roman depiction of Mercury was often accompanied by the inscription Fortuna Redux meaning successful coming back. Fortuna Redux, one of the many aspects of the Roman Goddess of Luck, Fortuna, was in charge of bringing people home safely. Though there is evidence to suggest that a martyr named Pantaleon existed, some consider the stories of his life and death to be purely legendary. According to the martyrologies, Pantaleon was the son of a rich pagan, Eustorgius of Nicomedia, and had been instructed in Christianity by his Christian mother, Saint Eubula; however, after her death he fell away from the Christian church, while he studied medicine with a renowned physician Euphrosinos; under the patronage of Euphrosinos he became physician to the Emperor Maximian or Galerius. He was won back to Christianity by Saint Hermolaus, who convinced him that Christ was the better physician, signalling the significance of the exemplum of Pantaleon that faith is to be trusted over medical advice, marking the direction European medicine was to take until the 16th century. The vitae containing these miraculous features are all late in date and “valueless” according to the Catholic Encyclopedia.
