The obverse of the coin features the effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II and the inscriptions: ELIZABETH II the name of the Queen, NIUE the issuing country, FIVE DOLLARS the face value and 2018 the year of issue. Erlang Shen Erlang Shen, or Erlang is a Chinese God with a third truth-seeing eye in the middle of his forehead. Er-lang Shen may be a deified version of several semi-mythical folk heroes who help regulate China’s torrential floods, dating variously from the Qin, Sui and Jin dynasties. A later Buddhist source identify him as the second son of the Northern Heavenly King Vaishravana. In the Ming semi-mythical novels Creation of the Gods and Journey to the West Erlang Shen is the nephew of the Jade Emperor. In the former he assisted the Zhou army in defeating the Shang. In the latter, he is the second son of a mortal and Jade emperor’s brother. In the legend, he is known as the greatest warrior god of heaven. Erlang Shen is also identified with Zhao Yu, a hermit who lived on Mount Qingcheng and was appointed by Emperor Yang of Sui as Governor of Jiazhou. Zhao Yu is said to have set forth with 1000 men to defeat a flood dragon that had been tormenting the area. Upon reaching the river Zhao Yu dived into the water with his double-edged sword and emerged holding the dragons head, Following his death, according to the Chronicle of Changshu County, the region was once again plagued by flood and he was seen riding a white horse amidst the swirling currents. The locals built a temple enshrining Zhao Yu as the God Erlang and the floods were subdued. This beautiful Silver coin is the second issue in the Worlds Most Expensive Vase series. In this edition the vase of the emperor Quinlong. The coin has beautiful Porcelain inserts, has a lovely design, has a Proof quality and comes packaged in a special presentation case in the shape of a frame, along with the Certificate of Authenticity. Limited mintage of only 999 pieces worldwide! The reverse of the coin presents the porcelain miniature of the Qianlong Wanshou Lianyan vase of the emperor of the Qing dynasty surrounded by wonderful decorations. The obverse of the coin depicts the effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II and the inscriptions: NIUE ISLAND the issue country, 2018 the year of issue, 1 DOLLAR the face value and ELIZABETH II the name of the Queen. Qianlong The Qianlong Emperor (25 September 1711 7 February 1799) was the sixth emperor of the Manchu-led Qing dynasty, and the fourth Qing emperor to rule over China proper. Born Hongli, the fourth son of the Yongzheng Emperor, he reigned officially from 11 October 1735 to 8 February 1796.1 On 8 February, he abdicated in favour of his son, the Jiaqing Emperor a filial act in order not to reign longer than his grandfather, the illustrious Kangxi Emperor. Despite his retirement, however, he retained ultimate power as the Emperor Emeritus (or Retired Emperor) until his death in 1799; he thus was the longest-reigning de facto ruler in the history of China, and dying at the age of 87, the longest-living. As a capable and cultured ruler inheriting a thriving empire, during his long reign the Qing Empire reached its most splendid and prosperous era, boasting a large population and economy. As a military leader, he led military campaigns expanding the dynastic territory to the largest extent by conquering and sometimes destroying Central Asian kingdoms. This turned around in his late years: the Qing empire began to decline with corruption and wastefulness in his court and a stagnating civil society. Among the ever-growing number of dragon-themed bullion coins issued over the years, this 2018 Silver Niue 5 oz Double Dragon offering certainly stands as one of the most impressive! Produced by the New Zealand Mint, both the coin’s design and craftsmanship are astounding. This 2018 Silver Niue 5 oz Double Dragon design remains true to Chinese legend and folklore as the two opposing dragons vie for the flaming pearl. The precious orb is prized and coveted above all treasures, consuming each dragon’s life energy. Whirling through the air they seek to obtain that which is always just outside their grasp. This chase is most often portrayed among the clouds. The timeless scene has enthralled both old and young. Always fresh and inspiring, unnumbered heraldic stories arising out of the flaming orb and the dragons’ chase continue to excite the imagination. Endless Chase – The Flaming Pearl. The reverse design features the two opposing dragons. Although facing one another, each has but a single object in sight. The flaming pearl is all that matters! The pearl is often associated with spiritual energy, wisdom, prosperity, power, and immortality. One dragon is circling downward in its attempt to grasp the pearl. The other is circling upward in the same whirling chase. Though there was a beginning to this chase, after the passing of unnumbered millennia, that day lies forgotten. Two Dragons – One Prize. You can discern slight distinctions between the two dragons, noticeable both in their bodies, and expressions. The fineness of the engraved detail of the scales on their serpentine bodies brings depth to the scene. You can envision the writhing movement of their bodies as each seeks to grasp the pearl with their claws. Both dragons have their jaws opened wide, their quick tongues strain to touch the pearl, but are never quite close enough. The precious orb is forever aflame, and just out of reach. The background is amazing, textured beautifully with a pattern of small scales, making the dragons’ bodies appear to suspend in space and time. Encircling the rim is a reversed-scalloped border, providing a distinctive finish to the overall scene. Inscriptions include FIVE OUNCE. 999 FINE SILVER and the Chinese character for dragon. The obverse displays the Ian Rank-Broadly portrait of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. Matching the reverse design, the background is textured with a pattern of small scales. The rim is also encircled by a reversed-scalloped border. Inscriptions include ELIZABETH II, NIUE, TEN DOLLARS, 2018. With its finely detailed and stunning design, this coin is sure to become one of Niue’s most sought-after releases! This 2018 Silver Niue 5 oz Double Dragon is a truly remarkable coin. Contains: 5 Troy oz of. Face Value: Ten Dollars (NZD). Obverse: Displays the likeness of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. The background texture is a pattern of small scales, portraying dragon skin. A reversed-scalloped border encircles the rim. Inscriptions “ELIZABETH II – NIUE” along with the year and face value. Reverse: Features the timeless scene recounted in ancient Chinese folklore of two opposing dragons chasing after the single prize of a flaming pearl. Inscriptions include the coin’s weight and purity. The item “2018 Silver Niue Double Dragon 5 oz” is in sale since Wednesday, June 6, 2018.
