The coin was struck from one ounce of 99.9% silver and features a full-color image of the iconic 1989 BatmobileT. Also included in the design are the 1989 BatmanT logo from the eponymous film “Batman”, a colorful likeness of BatmanT, and the inscription “1989 Batmobile”. The legendary BatmobileT was completely redesigned for the 1989 motion picture “Batman” and was intended to bring out the darker version of the Caped CrusaderT. Two Impala chassis were welded together to build the custom car, powered by a Chevy V8 engine. The bat mask was completley removed from the design. Instead, the nose featured a large jet turbine intake flanked by curved fenders. The interior of the car also resembled an aireplane cockpit. The 1989 Batmobile’sT equipment included bullet-shaped bombs, two Browning machine guns, oil-spill dispensers, smoke emitters and chassis-mounted shinbreakers. In addition, the whole vehicle was wrapped in a heavy armored shell, as a protection against enemy attacks. The reverse of the coin features the portrait of Queen Elizabeth II as well as the denomination and year of issue. The coin is presented in an acrylic case so both sides can be viewed.
