The German, Peter, could hardly speak Russian and pursued a strongly pro-Prussian policy, which made him an unpopular leader. He was likely assassinated as a result of a conspiracy led by his German wife Princess Sophie Friederike Auguste von Anhalt-Zerbst-Dornburg, who succeeded him to the throne as Catherine II. July 1762 Coronation: 25. Novemder 1796 (posthumously) Predecessor: Elizabeth I Successor: Catherine II. The coin depicts Petr III. The character offsets itself from the finely engraved background, due to the applied color. Also, the coin is embellished with 24k gold-plating and two blue crystals. The name of the Emperor, as well as the number of the coin, is punched into the edge of the coin. The obverse features the Ian Rank-Broadley effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. It is surrounded by beautiful ornaments, which give the coin a very special touch. The coin comes inside an elegant and rich wooden box, which is made from parts of real Karelian Birch. It is in a beautiful case, which is doing a great job in staging this remarkable coin. The Certificate of Authenticity (matching the number of the coin) is displayed on the inner packaging.
