The main focus of the obverse is a palace, possibly that of Sargon II, covered in images of the famous human-headed winged-bull statue, of which an original example from Sargon IIs palace is on display in the Louvre in Paris. Green Agate Crystal placed in the coin symbolizes the rich vegetation Hanging Gardens and the harvest lands in the river basins of the Tigris and Euphrates.
