Brand new, freshly minted. Great gift and wonderful addition for your collection! 5 Oz (155.50g). This silver proof coin with a serrated edge is dedicated to the “Orthodox Shrines”. The Last Supper is the final meal that, according to Christian belief, Jesus shared with his twelve apostles in Jerusalem before his crucifixion. Christians commemorate the Last Supper on Maundy Thursday. Moreover, The Last Supper provides the scriptural basis for the Eucharist; also know as the “Holy Communion” or “The Lord’s Supper”. The three Synoptic Gospels and the first Epistle to the Corinthians include the account of the institution of the Eucharist (and a new covenant) in which Jesus takes bread, breaks it and gives it to the disciples, saying: “This is my body which is given for you”. The Gospel of John does not include this episode, but tells of Jesus washing the feet of his apostles, and has a detailed farewell discourse by Jesus, calling the apostles who follow his teachings “friends and not servants”, as he prepares them for his departure. Scholars have looked at The Last Supper as the source of early Christian Eucharist traditions. The reverse depicts The Last Supper of Jesus and his twelve apostles. The characters are designed to match the original icon and offset themselves against the reflecting silver proof background. It also says “The Last Supper” (in cyrillic) in gold letters. The obverse features the Ian Rank-Broadley effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. The coin is packaged inside an elegant and rich wooden box. It is in a beautiful case, which is doing a great job in staging this remarkable coin. The Certificate of Authenticity is displayed on the inner packaging. Embellished with color and gold plating. Very low mintage – limited to only 500 pieces. Comes with capsule, numbered certificate of authenticity and a superb wooden presentation case. We strive for excellent service. Spyridon 1 Oz Silver Coin Gilded LIMITED. Extremly low mintage limit, only 3,000 pcs!! Coin with unique shape!!! Coin with Convex shape and Proof Finish. Saint Pantaleon, counted in the West among the late-medieval Fourteen Holy Helpers and in the East as one of the Holy Unmercenary Healers, was a martyr of Nicomedia in Bithynia during the Diocletian persecution of 305 AD. Though there is evidence to suggest that a martyr named Pantaleon existed, some consider the stories of his life and death to be purely legendary. According to the martyrologies, Pantaleon was the son of a rich pagan, Eustorgius of Nicomedia, and had been instructed in Christianity by his Christian mother, Saint Eubula; however, after her death he fell away from the Christian church, while he studied medicine with a renowned physician Euphrosinos; under the patronage of Euphrosinos he became physician to the Emperor Maximian or Galerius. He was won back to Christianity by Saint Hermolaus, who convinced him that Christ was the better physician, signalling the significance of the exemplum of Pantaleon that faith is to be trusted over medical advice, marking the direction European medicine was to take until the 16th century. The vitae containing these miraculous features are all late in date and “valueless” according to the Catholic Encyclopedia. Yet the fact of his martyrdom itself seems to be supported by a veneration for which there is testimony in the 5th century, among others in a sermon on the martyrs by Theodoret died c. 457; Procopius of Caesarea died c. 565, writing on the churches and shrines constructed by Justinian I tells that the emperor rebuilt the shrine to Pantaleon at Nicomedia; and there is mention of Pantaleon in the Martyrologium Hieronymianum. 1 Oz 31,1 g. Extremly low mintage limit, only 3,000 pcs!! Coin with unique shape!!! Michael is mentioned three times in the Book of Daniel, once as a “great prince who stands up for the children of your people”. The idea that Michael was the advocate of the Jews became so prevalent that in spite of the rabbinical prohibition against appealing to angels as intermediaries between God and his people, Michael came to occupy a certain place in the Jewish liturgy. In the New Testament Michael leads God’s armies against Satan’s forces in the Book of Revelation, where during the war in heaven he defeats Satan. In the Epistle of Jude Michael is specifically referred to as “the archangel Michael”. Christian sanctuaries to Michael appeared in the 4th century, when he was first seen as a healing angel, and then over time as a protector and the leader of the army of God against the forces of evil. By the 6th century, devotions to Archangel Michael were widespread both in the Eastern and Western Churches. Over time, teachings on Michael began to vary among Christian denominations. 1 Oz 31,1 g.
